SEC Tickets: What Team Offers The Best Bang For Your Buck?

SEC Tickets: What Team Offers The Best Bang For Your Buck?
Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

It has been 17 years since a team from the Volunteer State last reached the SEC football championship game. The Volunteers were the last state squad to do so in 2007, when head coach Phillip Fulmer led UT to Atlanta, well before legal Tennessee sports betting. Tennessee lost to LSU, 21-14, in that game and the Vols have not won an SEC title since 1998. Thatā€™s better than their league brethren from Nashville, because Vanderbilt has never won an SEC championship in football.

The SEC college football season kicks off this month. To see what team can offer the biggest bang for your buck, BetTennessee.com ranked all 16 league teams based on average ticket price for the home opener game, game experience rating, and the winning percentage at the first home game of the past five seasons. Our Tennessee college football betting guide has all the info you need to get ready for the 2024 season.

Sadly, for football fans in Tennessee, it seems like the stateā€™s two SEC programs havenā€™t just underachieved on the field. Tennessee and Vanderbilt rank among the bottom tier programs in the 16-team conference when it comes to a host of topics related to gameday value.

We used the Stadium Journey website as the basis for our ā€œgame experience ratingā€ category.

Where UT and Vanderbilt Rank in SEC

This yearā€™s UT team has the seventh-best SEC title odds of any team, at +1600 with DraftKings Tennessee Sportsbook. But the Volsā€™ luck when it comes to providing bang for fansā€™ collective bucks is left wanting, according to our research, with the Knoxville-based university ranking 14th out of 16 league schools with a total score of 125.0.

There are now 16 schools in the Southeastern Conference after Texas and Oklahoma were invited to join this season. How will those new arrivals shake up the SEC title race and where might Tennessee wind up for its bowl trip? Check out our Tennessee Vols bowl projections all season.

UT ranked ahead of two schools on our list of SEC bang for your buck. Only Kentucky Wildcats (124.3 points) and UTā€™s in-state rival, Vanderbilt, rated worse. The Commodores had 105.1 points, according to our calculations, as the private school out of the Music City again finished last in the league.

Conversely, the SEC programs that provide the most bang for their fansā€™ bucks were Alabama (158.7), Oklahoma (156.3), Auburn (155.4), Texas (150.3) and Georgia (148.3).

This year, the Vols will look to get that first SEC title since they went 13-0 in 1998 on their way to the national championship. The Commodores just look to return to respectability after posting losing records in each of the last five seasons. Check out Vanderbilt Commodores betting odds for more insight.
