We’re two weeks into the 2024 college football season and it already is shaping up to be a historic one in Knoxville, with the Tennessee Volunteers dispatching Chattanooga and NC State with ease to open the year.
The Vols’ latest conquest came in Charlotte, where UT shellacked the NC State Wolfpack, 54-10, to earn the program’s third straight win over an ACC school, dating back to their Week 2 loss to Pitt in 2021.
Now, Nico Iamaleava and the Volunteers enter this weekend’s clash against MAC program Kent State with an unblemished record and a solid shot at another victory before the start of SEC play.
To that end, oddsmakers from DraftKings Sportsbook Tennessee have UT listed as a 47.5-point home favorite over the Golden Flashes at Neyland Stadium on Saturday.
All year long, BetTennessee.com will update fans and Tennessee sports betting customers by keeping tabs on the Vols’ postseason odds, with this week’s list including a slew of December showdowns against other Power Five teams.
Bowl | Location | Conference Opponent | Odds | Percentage Chance |
Citrus Bowl | Orlando, FL | vs. Big Ten | +300 | 25.0% |
College Football Playoff | TBD | TBD | +325 | 23.6% |
ReliaQuest Bowl | Tampa, FL | vs. Big Ten or ACC | +600 | 14.3% |
TransPerfect Music City Bowl | Nashville, TN | vs. Big Ten | +600 | 14.3% |
AutoZone Liberty Bowl | Memphis, TN | vs. Big 12 | +900 | 10.0% |
The Field / No Bowl |
|
| +1000 | 9.1% |
Right now, we’re not sold on UT making the 12-team CFP, though that could certainly change if Iamaleava keeps playing at his current level.
The bowl games we do have UT pegged to at the moment are Orlando’s Citrus Bowl (+300), which narrowly beat out the CFP (+325) as the Vols’ top bowl game destination this week.
Throw in a possible return to Tampa’s ReliaQuest Bowl or an in-state appearance at Nashville’s TransPerfect Music City Bowl (+600 each) or the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis (+900) and you have the full range of bowl game options for the Vols’ this week.
If the Vols get off to a hot start, expect Nico Iamaleava Heisman odds to become a hot topic.

Since 2019, Tennessee has appeared in four bowl games, only missing out during the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season. The program has had stops at Florida postseason contests in the past two seasons.
Last year, UT shellacked Iowa in the Citrus Bowl, 35-0, behind Iamaleava’s 151-yard, one-touchdown game. The second-year QB scored three times on the ground, paying off well for bettors using Tennessee sportsbook promos to sign up with operators.
In 2022, the Vols capped a memorable 11-2 season with a 31-14 rout of Clemson in the Orange Bowl. The year before, UT lost a track meet at the 2021 Music City Bowl in Nashville to Purdue, 48-45.
In 2019, UT beat Indiana, 23-22, in the Gator Bowl. That set the stage for what was to come in the team’s three-year postseason run under Heupel’s watch, perhaps lending itself to a memorable fall of 2024 along the banks of the Tennessee River.

For the current 2024-25 college football season, Tennessee is currently projected to play in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL vs. a Big Ten team with the odds at +300 (25.0% chance). That would certainly be a popular game to bet on using one of the several Tennessee sports betting apps available.
Tennessee is not currently playing in a bowl game due to the season in the first weeks of the year. Their most recent bowl game was in the 2023 Citrus Bowl win against Iowa.
