Nashville Predators Trade Rumors: Most Likely Candidates To Be Moved Prior To Trade Deadline

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

With the NHL trade deadline roughly a month away, it’s high time for teams in the league to take stock of their immediate futures, with teams at the bottom of the league table likely to punt on the rest of the season by trading off veteran talent for prospects and draft pick capital.

In the Western Conference, few teams feature a drearier immediate future than the Nashville Predators, who sit in seventh place out of eight teams in the Central Division, ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks and 36 points behind the Winnipeg Jets for first place.

Still, even the NHL’s lowest of bottom feeders have players that contenders would gladly trade for, with Nashville holding onto the rights to some quality talent, including forwards Gustav Nyquist, Colton Sissons and Ryan O’Reilly, in addition to blue liners like Luke Schenn.

With that in mind, BetTennessee.com broke down some odds on which Predators players could be the next ones out the door as GM Barry Trotz looks to overhaul the team’s roster with little to play for in the final 30 games of the team’s regular season.

Who Gets Dealt in Music City?

Right now, our odds-on favorite to be the first Predators player dealt is Nyquist at -140, with the veteran of 835 NHL games having 2.9 point shares in 51 games played this season, making the 35-year-old from Sweden a quality name for a contender in 2025.

Throw in fellow forward, Sissons, who is co-listed with defenseman Luke Schenn at +700 to get dealt, as the former has 13 points, and 1.9 point shares this season while the latter has 4.2 point shares in 52 games played in his age-35 season.

Reilly is the longest of longshots to get dealt among the four, with +1200 odds for the 34-year-old out of Ontario, as the veteran of 1,122 NHL games looks to add to his 4.5 point shares and 30 points in 49 games played for the Predators (or whoever trades for him) down the stretch.

What we know for sure right now is that Nashville’s season will end for good once the NHL regular season wraps up in a few months, leaving Trotz and the team’s front office staff to make the unenviable choice of deciding which veteran players get moved before the league’s trade deadline comes and goes on March 7.
