After spending the 2024 league year as a coaching and personnel consultant with the Cleveland Browns, it was fair to wonder where former Tennessee Titans head coach and All-Pro linebacker Mike Vrabel would go next.
Vrabelโs time in the Music City was mostly one to remember across Tennessee sports betting, with the 14-year NFL linebacker going 54-45 (.545) with the Titans from 2018 to 2023 with three playoff berths during that stretch, including an appearance in the AFC Championship in 2019.
Despite not getting a head coaching position for the 2024-2025 NFL season, many correctly speculated that Vrabel would be the top candidate for current and potential NFL openings this offseason. At BetTennessee.com, we developed exclusive odds predicting where Vrabel would end up - before he was eventually hired to take over the New England Patriots.
Position | Odds | Percent Chance |
New England Patriots HC | +150 | 40.0% |
Chicago Bears HC | +300 | 25.0% |
Las Vegas Raiders HC | +500 | 16.7% |
New York Jets HC | +1100 | 8.3% |
The Field | +900 | 10.0% |

Our top pick for Vrabel this offseason was to return to Foxboro, where he won 3 Super Bowl rings under Bill Belichick and alongside Tom Brady. Patriots fans are starving for over .500 football since Brady went down to Tampa and got his seventh ring. Meanwhile, Patriots owner Robert Kraft is under serious pressure to regain credibility on the coaching market, after pushing out Belichick and firing the clearly overmatched Jerod Mayo after just one season.
Vrabel was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2023, and this reunion makes plenty of sense for both sides.
Vrabel could also have replaced Matt Eberflus as the head coach of the Chicago Bears, with +300 odds of the former Titans head coach getting his second gig in the league in the Windy City. Would Vrabel have been interested in working with Bears chairman Kevin Warren and GM Ryan Poles? It may have depended on the ceiling Vrabel envisioned for former No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.
If Vrabel was a believer in Williams as a potential Super Bowl-winning quarterback, he likely would have been fine with whatever front office structure the Bears settle on. But alas, the Krafts moved quickly to bring Vrabel back to NE, while Chicago is still going through their hiring process.
