Tennessee’s Favorite Toppings For Pizza Day

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

When it comes to the go-to pizza pie topping in the land of Rocky Top, there’s no topping cheese pizza, which scored a decisive search interest score victory in Tennessee during a recent pizza-related survey, blowing other classics like pepperoni, supreme, sausage and vegan out of the water.

Overall, the humble cheese pizza more than doubled the next closest topping, with a search interest score of 62 points, while pepperoni was the only other choice to net double-digit points, finishing the period in question with a total score of 30 points.

Celebrated on February 9, National Pizza Day is the perfect way to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday. Which Pizza Topping Do Tennessee Residents Prefer?

When it comes to pizza, Tennessee residents like to keep it cheesy, with cheese pizza scoring a decisive search interest victory, ahead of pepperoni (30 search interest score), supreme and sausage pizzas (seven search interest score each) and veggie pizzas (five search interest score).

Regardless of the particular variety of pizza, whether it be the more upscale Neapolitan pie or American takes on the slice like Chicago, Detroit or New York style pies, the simplest topping proved to be the pizza of choice for those living in the Volunteer State.

That’s because cheese pizza proved to be a far-and-away popularity contest winner in Tennessee, with cheesy goodness beating out a quartet of other national favorites in the race to be Tennessee’s favorite pizza topping during the year of our lord 2025.
