Few elements of the nation’s culinary tapestry unite Americans quite like a good block of cheese, with countless residents of the Volunteer State having a favorite pick when it comes to the dairy product.
Using search interest totals, we can assess which cheeses and cheese products are favorites in Tennessee, determining that the dessert staple hailing from the Big Apple known as cheesecake is the state’s No. 1 cheese-related dish, ranking ahead of main course dishes like macaroni and cheese, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches and cheese pizzas.
National Cheese Lovers Day is celebrated in the United States on January 20, 2025. At BetTennessee.com, we used Google Trends to see which cheese-based foods are most popular in Tennessee. The search period was conducted on Jan. 7, 2005 and we then ranked the list based on search interest score.

With a search interest score of 51 points, no cheesy food had nearly the type of statewide love that cheesecake garnered in Tennessee this year, more than doubling the next closest food, that being macaroni and cheese, which notched a search interest score of 21 points.
Throw in cheeseburgers (12 search interest score), grilled cheese sandwiches (eight search interest score) and cheese pizzas (seven search interest score) and you have the full rundown of Tennessee’s top cheese-laden foods in 2025.
At the end of the day though, none of them held nearly the cultural carte blanche that cheesecake did, with the dessert dish scoring a decisive search interest score victory over four other American culinary delicacies this year, illustrating once and for all that you can never go wrong with sweet treat to cap off your dining experience.
