On the heels of a single season in the Bluff City where he averaged 21.7 points per game, it appears that Memphis Tigers guard PJ Haggerty is closing the door on a return to town, as reports circulating out of Western Tennessee say that the All-American is entering the NCAA transfer portal. With that in mind, BetTennessee.com broke down the odds on where Haggerty will play in 2025 after a strong season with Penny Hardaway at Memphis at Tennessee sportsbooks.
Team | Percentage Chance | Odds |
Florida Gators | 25.0% | +300 |
Alabama Crimson Tide | 19.1% | +425 |
Ole Miss Rebels | 15.4% | +550 |
North Carolina Tar Heels | 11.1% | +800 |
Houston Cougars | 8.3% | +1100 |
Kentucky Wildcats | 8.3% | +1100 |
The Field | 13.3% | +650 |

It’s fair to say that Haggerty’s been a well-traveled college player, with three stops in as many years at TCU, Tulsa and Memphis, averaging 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists across 72 NCAA games so far. According to longtime college basketball reporter Jeff Goodman, Haggerty is seeking $4 million a year in NIL money, which evidently was too much for the Tigers to match, though there are plenty of schools in the Power Four ranks that can meet that target.
Chief amongst them is defending champion Florida, which is our top team to land Haggerty, at +300, as head coach Todd Golden looks to replace Alex Condon, who declared for the NBA Draft while maintaining his NCAA eligibility last week. Condon averaged 10.6 points per game for the champs from Gainesville last season, with his departure opening up a roster spot for Golden and company, despite the fact that the 6’11 forward plays a different position than the 6’3 guard.
Other top suitors for Haggerty’s services this offseason include the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ole Miss Rebels out of the SEC, at +425 and +550, respectively, while the UNC Tar Heels (+800), Houston Cougars and Kentucky Wildcats round out the list at +1100 apiece.
While the team at 247 Sports has not come up with a crystal ball prediction on where Haggerty will land this go-round out of the portal, the service does have him ranked No. 2 in this year’s transfer portal class (and as the top point guard in the portal nationally), speaking to the value that a veteran backcourt presence like the Texas native brings to a team in today’s offense-first world of men’s college basketball.
